What’s good, y’all? Today we’re talking about one of my favorite things in the world – apple kuchen. If you ain’t had it before, then what are you waiting for? Trust me, you won’t regret it.
THE FOOD OF LOVE: APPLE KUCHEN
First up, we have this gorgeous pic from The Food of Love. Look at that crust, y’all! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it. And that apple filling? Mmm, mmm, mmm!
If you wanna make this yourself, here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4-1/2 cup milk (depending on dough consistency)
- 4-5 cups sliced and peeled apples (enough to densely cover the dough in the pan)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Now, here’s how you put it all together:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- Mix together the flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the shortening until the mixture is crumbly.
- Add the beaten egg and milk, and mix until the dough comes together.
- Press the dough into a greased 9×13 inch pan, making sure the sides are slightly higher than the center.
- Arrange the apple slices on top of the dough.
- Mix together the 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon, and sprinkle evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
Boom! You’ve just made yourself an apple kuchen that’ll knock your socks off!
APPLE KUCHEN | FIRST LOOK, THEN COOK
Next up, we have this delicious-looking kuchen from First Look, Then Cook. Check out those juicy apple slices! I’m drooling just thinking about it.
Here’s what you’ll need to make this one:

- 1/4-1/2 cup cold milk (depending on dough consistency)

And here’s how you put it all together:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F.

- Drizzle the melted butter over the top.
